New Connectors Development of 112Gbps PAM4 / 64Gbps PAM4 applicable for data center (2023/SEP/29)

Development Background
In recent years, high-speed transmission in enterprise communications equipment, such as servers, and switches, has been rapidly advancing. This has increased the need for improved signal integrity (SI) performance of the components used in each system.
In response to these demands, I-PEX has started development of new products that support 112 Gbps PAM4 and 64 Gbps PAM4 high-speed transmission. The products feature a compact design that saves space while achieving high-speed transmission. High-speed transmission cable jumper wiring reduces signal loss in board trace wiring. It is particularly suitable for jumper wiring from expansion cards such as DPU (Data Processing Units) and NIC (Network Interface Cards) that are compatible with PCle Gen5 and Gen6 used in servers. The jumper wiring contributes to the reduction of data traffic through the CEM (Card Electromechanical) slot.
I-PEX will continue to contribute to improving the reliability and performance of enterprise communication equipment by achieving further high-speed transmission.

■CABLINE®-CA IIP PLUS 64Gbps PAM4 (Under development)
By adopting paddle card technology in the cable plug part of the CABLINE® series of micro-coaxial connectors, we have increased the transmission performance from 20 Gbps NRZ to over 64 Gbps PAM4, expanding the product's application area to the enterprise market. Transmission distance has been extended by making it possible to use Twinax cable in addition to micro-coaxial cable.

■DUALINE®130-HB-D 112 Gbps PAM4 (Under development)
The DUALINE® series, which realizes 112 Gbps PAM4 transmission in a small and low profile, has an even narrower pitch (1.95 to 1.3 mm, *signal contact pitch 0.4 mm) than the current product (DUALINE®195-HB), and is now a horizontally mating double-row type. By doing so, we have achieved a high density of 32 lanes while occupying about half the board area compared to current models.
