Company History

Company History

1994

  • I-PEX CO.,LTD. was founded by the founder Morihisa Shinoda in Machida city in Tokyo with a capital of ¥ 30,000,000 in Feb 1994.
  • Burn-In Test Socket for Semiconductor Industry and I/O and FPC connectors for Floppy Disk Drive were developed.
  • In Nov 1994, the liaison office was developed in Taipei of Taiwan in order to dig out the business opportunity in Taiwan market.

1995

  • New corporation I-PEX (SINGAPORE) PTE LTD. was founded in Singapore for the purpose of handling South Asian business.
  • Connectors targeting note PC industry ware developed this year. (DIFFLINE, MINIDOCK, DUALOK, VARISTACK, ODDSTACK, D-III SOCKET, CABLINE I)

 

1996

  • I-PEX CABLINE I was used for high-end note PC and 1,100kpcs were supplied to the market in 1996 & 1997. And MINIDOCK was also used for DOCKING Station I/O connector.
  • The business performance of 3rd quarter achieved USD3 million. The growth rate through the year compared with the previous year was 200%BThe total product line up developed, as of this year-end were almost 30 products lines.

1997

  • CABLINE II, which shall be terminated with small coaxial cable by i-Fit technology, was developed for LCD panel application of notebook PC.
  • The capital fund was increased to ¥ 50 million May 1997.
  • The sales agent contract was made in June with Global Component Corporation for the business development in the USA.

1998

  • In August, International Certificate of Quality Standard ISO-9001 was obtained.
  • The plastic components were developed for 2.5" HDD new model of which employed "Load and Unload System".
  • The CABLINE series were expanded and the applications of CABLINE were increased to LCD panel for notebook PC.

 

1999

  • I-PEX was listed in the leading edge PC makers (2 companies) as Qualified Venders.
  • I-PEX DIFFLINE connector was qualified by leading edge telecommunication maker and to be used for Wireless Telecommunication Devise.
  • PC maker in the USA for differential data transmission tested application of Twin-Coaxial Cable to CABLINE connector, and it performed excellent EMI protection and data transmission.
  • The business by all I-PEX's performed approx. USD28 million through the year. This was 87% growth.

 

2000

  • In January, I-PEX Singapore Office was relocated to Suntec City Tower 4 and the total floor space increased 30% up. Total employees are 4 persons.
  • I-PEX Taiwan Office was registered as Branch Office and started local sales in for Taiwanese Customers.
  • New company name is " I-PEX CO., LTD. TAIWAN BRANCH".

 

2001

  • In July, Taiwan branch office moved to Chung Ho City from Taipei City.
  • In August, opened Osaka sales office in Osaka.
  • In October, first exhibition in CEATEC JAPAN.
  • In November, developed SD card connector and start business for PDA market.

 

2002

  • In January, developed MHF connector and start businesses for wireless LAN market.
  • In September, opened I-PEX Shanghai office in Shanghai, CHINA.
  • In December, developed new products, FPL, FPL-D, ULTRABUS and CABLINE-IV connectors. Achieved US$40 million at booking bases in 2002.

 

 

2003

  • Total employee numbered 100 in all I-PEX.
  • Korea Branch was opened.
  • Hong Kong Branch was opened in China.
  • In December, I-PEX HEAD OFFICE was relocated.

2004

  • Held 10 year anniversary celebration.
  • Change of company Representatives
  • U.S.A. Branch was opened.

 

2005

  • International Certificate of Environment management system ISO-14001 was obtained.
